Nomura Yūko

Born in Nagoya City. Familiarized herself with Koto in childhood through her parents who are Koto players and composers. Made first stage appearance at age three. Begun composition of Koto in 1971,and started Koto performances throughout Japan and gained public attention as a talented soloist of her father, Nomura Seihō's compositions. Collaborated with Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra in 1979, and from this time performed overseas in Poland, Australia and former West Germany etc. to positive reactions. She has also played on TV + Radio many times and her activities expanded widely, such as CD recording and lecture and compositions commissioned by various traditional music groups. She completed the 22nd NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) Traditional Music Training Program. Awarded a Prize Nagoya citizen art festival, the Green Ribbon Prize for new face. She is a member of Modern Hougaku Composer Association, the vice-chairman of Sōkyoku Seigensya and superintendence of Seigensya Gattsodan.
