Born March 16, 1932 in Yamanashi Prefecture, Takeshita Itsusō (Takeshita Hisashi) studied Itsudō-ha Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Ikeda Itsuren. He started teaching in 1948. He was a member of the Shakuhachi Itsuren-kai.
