Born January 1, 1927 in Yamanashi Prefecture, Ogino Itsugin (Ogino Kazuo) studied Itsudō-ha Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Ikeda Itsuren. He started teaching in 1958. He belonged to the Shakuhachi Itsuren-kai.
