Born November 5, 1927 in Kyoto Prefecture, Tanizaki Reidō (Tanizaki Rokuo) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Fujiwara Ōdō. He began teaching in 1960. He was a member of the Kamo-ryū club of the Kyoto branch of the Nihon Chikudō Gakkan.
